$1.67bn was lost in 206 crypto hacks with a known loss. Losses were up 3% on 2023. The largest was DMM Bitcoin, at $305.0m. US government statements attribute 4 of the year’s hacks to North Korea, $604.7m in all.
US agencies took 183 crypto enforcement steps, most of them from the DOJ (111). The median prison sentence across the 34 sentences that included prison time was 5 years.
